Hot Air Balloons are at the mercy of the weather. Best flying conditions occur early morning and early evening when the winds are calmest. The main flying season runs from May to October. What kind of weather is needed? Winds of 8 knots (10 mph) or less, are needed to ensure a safe and pleasurable experience. Rain and high wind will, unfortunately, cause us to cancel your flight. The actual flight time averages approximately 1 hour in duration. However, the entire ballooning experience, from "pre-flight preparation" to "post-flight celebration" may take two to three hours. Balloons can only go where the wind directs. By adjusting altitude we can steer the balloon left or right. Half the fun is not knowing where you're going till you get there! That's why we fly into the countryside where there are many landing sites. Layered casual clothing, long pants, enclosed flat shoes, a hat and a jacket is the best outfit, nylons, high heels and dress clothing are not appropriate. Ballooning is the safest form of flight. The safety of our passengers is our number one concern at Skyward. Our commercial pilots are licensed by MOT (Ministry of Transportation) and can assure you of a safe and pleasurable experience. What if the flight is cancelled? If a flight is cancelled due to unfavorable weather, we will reschedule for another day. We maintain our 100% passenger safety record and will not jeopardize your safety. Anyone who has had recent surgery, those with severe hip or back problems, frail elderly people, children under 8 and pregnant women are unable to fly. If you are unsure, check with your doctor. How many people go in the balloon? Skyward Balloons has 4 and 8 passenger baskets. If you have a larger group to fly we can accommodate you. Evening Flights in the Tri-Cities area will meet at Victoria Park in Kitchener by the Clock Tower or at an other site indicated on our flight information system phone line. Meeting times and launch sites will vary as the season progresses. Please call (519) 651-1833 to confirm the meeting time, meeting location and status of your flight. For Sunrise flights, please call in after 11:00 PM the night before your flight, and for Sunset flights, please call after 4:30 PM the day of your flight. What is the "pre-flight
preparation"? The pre-flight preparation includes:
What is the "post-flight
celebration"?
